2022 BUFFEX signals recovery from pandemic–PA Constantino

CITY OF MALOLOS – “The core for this is our commerce and industry, so the reopening of BUFFEX is a good sign as we go back to the new normal; we are standing on the threshold of change and in a fast pace, we will see the change in the province. Don’t be surprised if suddenly we are surrounded with high rise buildings and international headquarters”.

This was the message of Provincial Administrator Antonia V. Constantino during the reopening of 2022 Bulacan Food Fair and Exposition (BUFFEX) held in front of the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city recently as one of the activities in the celebration of Singkaban Festival 2022.

She said that due to many opportunities specially in the business sector, it’s not impossible that Bulacan will be called as the “Gateway to the World” aside from being dubbed at present as the “Gateway to the North.

“The opportunity is very real so it’s going to happen to our province in the next six to eight years and the preparation cannot be within the next six to eight years it has to start today,” said Constantino who represented Gov. Daniel R. Fernando as the guest of honor.

A total of 79 exhibitors have participated in the said trade fair that offers a variety of Tatak Bulacan products which was organized by the Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTI) and Provincial Government of Bulacan.

Also, “BUFFEX SKL -Sayaw Kanta Luto” cooking demo was held with Sunshine Garcia and her husband Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro as well as the formal opening of BUFFEX Coverage for the Tiktok Contest with the theme “Tangkilikin ang BUFFEX”.

Meanwhile in her message, Regional Director Leonila Baluyut of DTI – Region 3 who represented DTI Undersecretary Blesila A. Lantoyana, reported that from March 2020 until March 2022, more than 17,000 businesses have closed in the region thus in the same period, they have recorded more than 45,000 new businesses.

With the theme “BULACAN FOODS: Emerging and Sustaining Industries Beyond the Pandemic”, the weeklong activities included in the 10th year conduct of BUFFEX are: September 7, DTI Day wherein a training on Trends in Digital Marketing and Food Quiz Bee were held; September 8, Sayawan sa BUFFEX for students in high school and college while Awitan sa BUFFEX for elementary pupils; September 9, Tribute to Bulacan Food Champions, Exhibitors’ Videoke Challenge and parlor games; and on September 10, Grand Finals of Tiktok Contest, ZUMBEX (Zumba sa BUFFEX Dance Competition) and Closing Ceremonies as well as Awarding of Best Booths.

Other attendees during the opening program were Mayor Agatha Paula A. Cruz of Guiguinto, Mayor Ma. Rosario O. Montejo of Pulilan, representatives of the City/Town Mayors of Malolos, Paombong and San Miguel, BCCI Board of Trustees headed by President Victor F. Mendoza, Chairman of the Board Cristina C. Tuzon of BCCI, aPnd rovincial Director Edna Dizon of DTI-Bulacan among others.
