CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN—More than 26,000 daily North Luzom motorists going to and from Metro Manila will have an extended access road through the 11. 3 kilometer North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) C-5 Northlink that will be opened to the public first quarter of 2026.

Section 1A of the NLEX  C-5 Northlink project extends NLEX from Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia, close to Katipunan Avenue through the Quirino Highway.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) President and CEO Jose Ma. Lim who led Tursday the groundbreaking ceremony of the first two kilometers of the NLEX-C5 Northlink project  said the new NLEX extension will improve access to the expressway from Metro Manila’s west, east, north, and south sides. It will dramatically cut travel time and alleviate traffic congestion on major roads like EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue, Quirino Highway, and Mindanao Avenue, resulting in more efficient commutes and logistics operations.

Lim said the motorists will be eased of traffic burden because of the project which will extend NLEX from the Mindanao Toll Plaza to Quirino Highway through an all-weather elevated expressway that will be accessible to all types of vehicles 24/7.

The 2×2 expressway will cut to only 15 minutes the one hour travel time from Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Highway. It will also offeri a seamless route for motorists heading to and from Novaliches, also in Quezon City.

“We are enthusiastic about this project as it contributes to our ongoing efforts to reduce traffic congestion on local roads in the metro. At MPTC, we believe that unhindered mobility fosters better opportunities for jobs, businesses, and economic growth, said MPTC President and CEO Jose Ma. Lim.

Lim added that the choice to build an elevated expressway was driven to reduce construction-related disruptions for local communities.

The right of way for the project is already 80% completed and have relocated 800 families.

The project is an integral part of the expressway’s expansion plans, aimed at improving access between NLEX, Valenzuela City, and Quezon City. This will stimulate business growth, create job opportunities, and contribute to the economic development of the surrounding areas.

“We aim to finish this 2km road in 12 months. During construction, we will work closely with all stakeholders to minimize disruptions. Rest assured that MPTC and NLEX are committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability,” said Lim.
