CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan—Five persons were killed after their vehicle was hit by a trailer truck while traversing the Maharlika highway in San Ildefonso town dawn on Tuesday.
Col. Russel Dennis Reburiano, chief of police of San Ildefonso identified the victims as Nelson Magundayao , 50, from Pembo Fort Bonifacio, Makati City, driver of colored red Toyota Innova with plate number NEP-5492 and his four companions identified as Arlene Sipcon 52; Crispin Garcia Jr. 38; Crisanto Garcia 41; and Christopher Lachica, 45, all also from Makati City.
Jansen Grengia, 34, who suffered major injuries was rushed to a nearest hospital and was later transferred to a hospital in Metro Manila.
Reburiano said the victims were cruising along Barangay Malipampang at about 2:30 a.m. bound to Nueva Ecija, when a colored white Sino trailer truck registered as ABF-4035 traversing the opposite lane bound to Metro Manila and being driven by Aurelio Bartequil, 59, from Longos, Malabon City suddenly swerved to the left lane and collided head on to their vehicle.
Due to the strong impact of the collision, both the truck and the Innova were swept to the side of the road and smashed into a concrete electrical post. The Innova was in total wreck. All the five victims died instantaneously.
According to the chief of police, the victims were bound to Nueva Ecija to attend to the burial of their fellow mechanic in a car shop in their place in Makati.
The trailer truck registered to Greenbucks Enterprises in Pulilan, Bulacan was loaded with 20 tons of animal feeds. Reburiano said the driver lost control of the truck after due to mechanical problem.
The victim’s bodies were brought to funeral houses in San Ildefonso. The truck driver is now in custody of San Ildefonso police and charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide were filed against them before the Bulacan Prosecutor’s Office.
