BOCAUE, Bulacan—Vote for a party-list which agenda in Congress is to craft laws that will push for good and honest governance and not those whose aim is only to make money, Citizens Battle Against Crime and Corruption (CIBAC) Rep. Eduardo “Bro Ediie” Villanueva addressed supporters during the party-list kick-off rally in this town on Tuesday.
Speaking before Bocaue officials and close to 3,000 CIBAC followers, from all over the country at the municipal covered court, Villanueva said that it is only in the hands of the voters that a genuine victory against corruption could be achieved.
“Kulang kulang 200 ang tumatakbong party-list, hindi naman lahat. Pero simple lang, tingnan ninyo ang mga tumatakbo sa party-list. Gusto ba talagang maglingkod sa bayan o siguraduhin ang posisyon sa gobyerno at ang makukuhang pera,” (It is nearly 200 that is running for party-list, although not all. But it is simple, look at those running for the party-list. Do they really want to serve the people or they just like to ensure a post in the government and the money they will get), he said in his speech.
“Alam naman natin napakarami diyan sa mga party-list na iyan ay negosyo,” (We knew that many from the party-lists only want to make money), he added.
“In London, CIBAC got zero votes during the 2022 election. It is so sad, my son, Senator Joel Villanueva was the author of the creation of the Department of Migrant Workers,” the congressman said.
The CIBAC’s first nominee said that good laws crafted and passed in Congress and in the Senate are foundations of good governance for the Filipino people and which should be the focus of the works of all the party-list representatives.
But, the party-lists there in Congress are owned and run by millionaires and billionaires in the guise of a marginalized sector, he said.
“Who are the owners and representatives or nominees of the party-list? They are millionaires and billionaires. But check their track records, who among them are brave and sincere enough to offer themselves for real cause and service to the people and the country,” the congressman added.
Villanueva, also known as Bro. Eddie, the founder and head of the Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church said CIBAC’s war against corruption is the fight for honest, good governance and corrupt-free Philippines for every Filipino. “CIBAC’s fight against corruption is a war waged by incorruptible citizens of the country in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” the solon also added.
CIBAC has pushed for 223 laws, which includes the Anti-Red Tape Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) AND Ease of Doing Business Act.
With a Voltes-5 theme song, CIBAC’s campaign jingle excites the mood in the rally.
Senator Joel Villanueva, the second elder son of the CIBAC representative, who was a former nine year representative of the party-list, graced the kick-off campaign and endorsed the party-list as the congress counterpart in all his bills which prioritized the Filipino and migrant workers, education of the youth, the economy, and others.
He said CIBAC needs to stay in Congress to champion the fight against the evil in governance.
“Not until the end of the world, CIBAC will continue to fight corruption in Congress and in the country,” the elder Villanueva lamented.
His eldest son, Eduardo Villanueva Jr. is in his second season as Bocaue mayor and his son-in-law, lawyer Sherwrin Tugna is the current vice mayor of the town. Tugna is the husband of late Bocaue Mayor Joni Villanueva, daughter of Bishop Villanueva who died at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020 while leading the distribution of relief packs to her constituents.
