CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan—The gun attack on Friday afternoon in San Rafael town that killed an Information Technology (IT) consultant and social media operator of a congressional district candidate in the May election had also wounded seven passengers of three other vehicles traversing the Maharlika Highway.
Bulacan Provincial Police Information Office chief Police Maj. Jaynalin Udal said on Saturday that a 15 year old girl alias “Jana” who was on board a passenger jeepney remains in a hospital after she was hit by a stray bullet. Another victim on board the same vehicle was already discharged from the hospital from bruises of bullet wounds.
Two other victims on board a motorcycle with sidecar and three passengers of a Toyota Avanza were also wounded in the gun attack but were already discharged from a hospital.
As this developed Udal said, A Special Task Force was already created by the Bulacan Provincial Police Office to investigate the incident and identify and arrest the suspects.
Bryan Villaflor, 27, an Information Technology (IT) specialist and social media operator of Bulacan third district congressional candidate Victor Silverio, son of Third District Rep. Lorna Silverio, his girlfriend, identified only as alias “Jam” and his security aide Jayvee Mariano were killed in an ambush along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Capihan, San Rafael town on Friday.
Villaflor and Mariano died instantaneously while Jam was declared dead on arrival at Ace Hospital in Baliwag City.
Reports that reached the office of Police Region 3 Director PBGen Jean Fajardo said Villaflor was driving his colored black Ford Everest with Mariano on the front passenger seat and his girlfriend seated at the back when at around 3:15 pm, while traversing the southbound lane of the said highway, unidentified suspects on board another SUV that was tailing their vehicle suddenly fired on them using automatic rifles.
As a result, police said, the back and front windshields of the Ford Everest were riddled with bullets. Villaflor and Mariano were directly hit multiple times in different parts of their body causing their instantaneous death while Jam was rushed to the said hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
As seen in a video footage that went viral in social media, the suspects, still on board their vehicle, stopped in the middle of the road and continued the heavy fires on the Ford Everest which has earlier swayed on the shoulder of the opposite road following the earlier burst of fires that had also hit other vehicles.
Police said they recovered 25 spent cartridges of possible cal 5.56 ammunition from the crime scene.
According to the congresswoman, Villaflor, a resident of Poblacion, San Ildefonso town with the two other victims came from his house and were bound to a supermarket in Baliwag City when they were attacked.
She told NEWSCORE Bulacan in a phone interview on Friday night that Villaflor is their current IT consultant and social media operator who will be part of their team in the campaign of his son Victor for his congressional candidacy in the third district in the coming May elections.
“He is our IT man. He is working in our team, for the candidacy of Victor,” Silverio said.
In a social media post on Friday night, the young Silverio vowed to get justice for Villaflor. He said Villaflor was taken from them in the most drastic, savage and devastating manner. He said he did not only lost a partner in the profession, but also a friend and a fellow advocate of truth.
Silverio is the son of Bulacan Third District Rep. Lorna Silverio.
