DA recognizes PGB as national finalist for Gawad Saka 2025

CITY OF MALOLOS – After being honored as an awardee in the region, the Provincial Government of Bulacan was now recognized as a National Finalist for the Outstanding Provincial Local Government Unit category of the 50th Gawad Saka Parangal sa mga Natatanging Magsasaka at Mangingisda and 2025 National Farmers and Fisherfolks Month celebration held at Philippine Trade Training Center, Pasay City last Monday.

In behalf of Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Provincial Agriculture Office Head Ma. Gloria SF. Carrillo and Provincial Veterinary Office Head Dr. Voltaire G. Basinang received the certificate of recognition from Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr.

According to the secretary, for five decades, the Gawad Saka has stood as a beacon of recognition for those who till the soil and harvest the seas of the country and the department celebrate their vigor and spirit that has carried the Philippines through uncertainties.

“Today, farmers and fisherfolks are innovators and environmental stewards, educators, entrepreneurs, even cultural ambassadors grounded in tradition, powered by science, and driven by purpose. You guys wear many hats and carry even greater hopes. You inspire, lead, and shape the future of our nation,” Tiu Laurel said.

Aside from the PGB, Bausa Integrated Farm and Training Center Inc. in San Ildefonso got the Outstanding Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Garden (Macrogarden); while Mang Danny’s Organic and Natural Farm in Paombong received the Outstanding Fisherfolk (Aquaculture) honor.

Known to be the highest recognition bestowed by the DA to its stakeholders, Gawad Saka acknowledges and recognizes the significant and ongoing contributions made by Filipino farmers, fishermen, institutions, scientists, and researchers to the advancement of agricultural development.
