Drunk motorcycle driver killed in road mishap

GUIGUINTO, Bulacan–A believed drunk motorcycle rider was killed while his companion is in critical condition when their vehicle smashed into a truck along Plaridel Bypass in this town on Thursday.

Guiguinto police chief Col. Jowilouie Bilaro identified the victim as Gemar Sia, 26 from Marilao town. He died on the spot after a strong impact swept the mororcycle he was driving under the truck. 

His back rider identified as Aris Mark A. Iduria, 25 from Barangay Borol 2nd, Balagtas town was rushed to Bulacan Medical Center but was transferred to a hospital in Metro Manila.

Bilaro said the two victims were on board a Suzuki Sky motorcycle traversing Barangay Pulong Gubat along Plaridel Bypass this town going to Barangay Tiaong at around 7:00 a.m. when suddenly they swerved and made a counter flow in the opposite direction and smashed to an Isuzu Aluminum Van registered as WHU  719 going to Plaridel area. 

Truck driver Alex San Antonio, 31 from General Trias, Cavite is now in custody of Guiguinto police.

The motorcycle of the duo has been earlier seen swerving repeatedly in different directions, the police said. 

Bilaro said both the victims who came from their work at RCS cold storage facility in Plaridel were under the influence of liquor as they had just come from a two hour 4:00 to 6:00 a.m. drinking spree with fellow workers. 

A helmet was seen near the motorcycle but police has yet to determine who was wearing it among the victims.
