CITY OF MALOLOS–“Bring Tatay Digong home”. This was the cry and chant of close to 100 followers of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (PRRD) as they gather for a prayer rally and calls for the immediate and safety return of the former top official of the country in time for his 80th birth anniversary on March 28.
The supporters from Federalism Supporters Bulacan and Duterte Supoorters Bulacan led by Pastor Allan Gevania and fellow leaders and members gathered at the newly constructed amphitheatre of the city government of Malolos on Monday for a prayer rally and demand for the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Marcos government to bring home the former president.
“Bring Tatay Digong home. Bring former President Duterte home,”
Gevania addressed fellow Duterte followers of the need to gather and raise one prayer to protect, keep safe and bring home the former top leader of the country.
“In unity there is strength. Let us pray that God will keep former President Duterte safe in Netherlands. He was kidnapped and being held in that country. We are praying that he would feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and that he will feel the warmth of our love and care for him despite the thousand miles distance,” (Sa pagkakaisa ay lumalakas tayo.
Gevania also calls on other Duterte supporters to join them in the prayer rallies.
He said, simultaneous prayer rallies will continue in different areas in the province.
Edmund Santiago, 42, a theatre artist, song writer and actor from Plaridel town said politics was the reason why the former President is being held in prison in The Hague.
Betrayed by fellow Filipino people
“They knew PRRD remains to be a strong leader with still huge following because many Filipinos continue to love him, but some Filipinos betrayed him for their own personal and political agenda,” Santiago also said.
He likens former President Duterte to Jesus Christ, Andres Bonifacio, Gregorio del Pilar, who are our countries heroes that were betrayed by fellow Filipinos.
Sa maraming pagkakataon ganyan,” he said.
Santiago laments that while they are few in numbers in Malolos, there are thousands of Duterte supporters, particualrly OFW’s in different places in the world who are praying for the safety return of the former President.
Malolos stands for Duterte the second time around
Santiago also recalls how Malolos also stood up for Duterte during his 2016 presidential election campaign.
“Traffic was worst during that time because of the hundreds of people who joined and followed him. He came from San Miguel, Bulacan and went here in Malolos for his campaign. He really arrived late here in Malolos because of the numerous number of motorists, Bulakenyos who joinef his motorcade,” he said.
Malolos was then the only city and municipality out of the 23 others in Bulacan who welcomed Duterte to stage his political campaign rally in the province.
Santiago also defended the drug war of the former President saying drug pushers and users became who they are because of the choices they made, because they preferred to be such unlike their victims who do not choose to be raped and murdered.
“Let us all pray that they Bring Duterte Home. That he will be home in time fot his 80th birth anniversary on March 28”.
Danna Uy, 42, now a resident of Bulacan spoke how she was benefited of the health and welfare programs of Duterte when he was still the mayor of Davao. She said, she was formerly a resident of Tondo, Manila but she moved to Davao City to seek help for the medication of his sick father. She said, Dueterte gave her all the medical and burial help she then needed.
Angelo Camain, spokesperson and marshall of former President Duterte United Bulacan supporters said they will continue to hold motorcade rallies in support of the former official in the coming Sundays until the president has reached back home.
On March 23, they will have Malolos, Calumpit, Pulilan, Plaridel, Baliwag and Guiguinto as their route.
