
CITY OF MALOLOS — In a stunning display of athletic prowess and teamwork, young Bulakenyo athletes reigned supreme in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa 2025 after bringing home 22 medals— nine gold, seven silver, and six bronze—for DepEd Schools Division Office of Bulacan, ending their campaign at 18th spot out of 221 Schools Division Offices across the country.
Hosted by the province of Ilocos Norte from May 24 to 31, the delegation of Central Luzon bagged a total of 80 medals—29 gold, 25 silver, 36 bronze—duplicating the region’s 6th place finish in the 2024 edition of Palarong Pambansa in Cebu.
Proving their mastery inside the athletics track, Lance C. Nicolas ruled the pole vault secondary boys category, pocketing the gold medal for the region, while Marcos James M. Donato won the 4×400 meter relay for elementary boys, and Marinel Postanes jumped her way up to clinch the gold in high jump elementary girls.
Eyeteen Joyce C. Santos also showed an impressive performance in gymnastics elementary girls after bagging all the gold medals in the cluster 2 of uneven bars, balance beam, and team event, while her fellow gymnast Talula Adreinna Rose A. Nadres also ended her secondary girls uneven bars competition with a gold in her possession.
Digging more golds for the Rehiyon Tres, the table tennis mixed doubles tandem of Jerimiah Raniel Claudio and Liu Shiwen Garcia secured the first place in elementary division, while the formidable squad of Alliyah Reinne E. Ignacio, Jandee Yvez G. Salvador, Rizza M. Torres, and Kanniza Faye A. Zamora charged their way to seal this year’s championship title in basketball 3×3 secondary girls.
Moreover, the secondary girls softball team of Central Luzon represented by Bulacan’s Cristine, Angel L. Calaguas, Renarose D. Evangelista, Ladyryl M. Gerodias, Erikca Mae S. Gonzales, Tifhanie Jane P. Lorenzo, Sheena Joy C. Panteria, Jhanille G. Pescozo, Tricia Mae C. Santiago, Carlene Jade L. Santos, Janarie Joy P. Santos, Jannel P. Santos, and Princess Lyza V. Sioson fell short of a podium finish and settled for the silver medal.
Other Bulakenyos who also proved their mastery in the national stage and brought home silver medals are Talula Adreinna Rose A. Nadres (vault, team secondary girls), Eyeteen Joyce C. Santos (cluster 2 individual all-around elementary girls), Chriszia Mae A. Santos (gymnastics team secondary girls), Gail M. Santos (gymnastics team, cluster 3 individual all-around secondary girls), Ryewenn Mei M. Santos (rhythmic gymnastics elementary girls), and Marcos James M. Donato (4×100-meter relay elementary boys).
Meanwhile, the 5×5 basketball teams from the province also delivered an exceptional performance as Kristian Jokaz I. Aguinaldo, Kurt Matthew Dr. Benasa, Acheean Nyx A. Butcon, Xainiell B. Capariño, Carl Raizen O. De Guzman, Richkyle Arthur B. Dela Cruz, Reijen Khai Dr. Estanislao, Yvo Nathaniel M. Galvez, Prince Yuan B. Jayco, Dwyane James I. Lejano, Akiro Evo L. Lim, Yhurie A. Ombao, Rolan Calix P. Rivera, Prince Nhighel S. Sabeniano, and Ethan Josef T. San Jose (elementary boys) along with Thomas John P. Calixto, Johari DC. Domingo, and Ren Andrei T. Illescas (secondary boys) finished third place.
Wrapping up the medal charge for Bulacan, the following athletes finished their Palaro bid by contributing bronze medals to Region 3’s medal haul: Aretha Fabrice M Pualengco (taekwondo kyorugi – category 6 secondary girls), Talula Adreinna Rose A. Nadres (cluster 3 individual all-around), and Liu Shiwen Garcia (table tennis singles, table tennis team elementary girls).
With immense pride and gratitude, Gov. Daniel R. Fernando congratulated the DepEd Bulacan and its student-athletes, underscoring the value of support to the athletes and committed to further strengthen it in their upcoming competitions.
“Binabati po natin ang DepEd Bulacan at ang napakahuhusay na atletang Bulakenyo natin para sa pagdadala ng dangal ng ating lalawigan sa Ilocos. Kaya napakahalaga ng nagagawa ng suporta natin sa mga bata. Lalo po natin itong paiigitingin pa sa mga susunod ninyo pang laban,” Fernando said.
