CALUMPIT, Bulacan–Police arrested a 23 year old man who robbed and took away the close to P100,000 day’s sales of a 24-hour convenient store here on Tuesday.
Bulacan police director Col. Relly Arnedo identified the arrested suspect as Ricardo Santiago Jr. He was nabbed after more than nine hours hot pursuit operation near his house in Paombong town.
At about 6:30 a.m., the suspect who disguised as an Alfamart crew by wearing a uniform of the store robbed the Alfamart store branch in Barangay Iba O’ Este.
He approached John Paul Simbulan, 22, the cashier at the said Alfamart branch and threatened to hurt him if he would not put out the vault. The suspect tried to pull something from the pocket of his jacket and made it appear he was drawing a firearm which further threatened the victim.
The police said the on duty security guard was not in his post after he left at about 12 midnight and failed to return. Convenient store security guards should be on close watch in their stalls during wee hour duties.
After the victim handed the vault, the suspect then fled towards the MacArthur highway.
Fooatages of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) and the description of the victim led the police to identify and chase him that led to his arrest.
Santiago took away with him Alfamart’s Monday sales amounting to P99,455.
