CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan (PIA) – The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Bulacan welcomed School Year 2025-2026 with 298 newly-hired teachers and hundreds of additional classrooms across the province.
DepEd Bulacan Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Norma Esteban said the new teaching personnel were deployed across various grade levels, including 113 for kinder and elementary, 89 for junior high school, 82 for senior high school, and 14 for Alternative Learning System-Senior High School.
Of these number, 283 were appointed to Teacher I positions, while 15 were assigned as Special Science Teacher I to ensure adequate staffing for diverse learner needs.
These positions are part of the 20,000 teaching plantilla slots approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for fiscal year 2025.
The newly-hired teachers will join over 16,000 current educators in the division to serve 458,240 learners enrolled in public schools across the province.
This includes 34,330 in kindergarten, 249,465 in elementary, 136,100 in junior high school, and 39,336 in senior high school.
To support growing learner population, Esteban also reported that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed 32 new buildings with an additional 199 classrooms.
These facilities, which were funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) from 2023 to present, add to the 304 school buildings with 2,788 classrooms from 2016 to 2022.
Aside from the national government-funded classrooms, the Provincial Government of Bulacan has completed the construction of 183 buildings with 730 classrooms under the Special Education Fund (SEF)
Governor Daniel R. Fernando has pledged to build more classrooms in the next three years with the help of the SEF, and to continue providing educational assistance including financial aid for teachers who are graduate studies. (SFV-MJSC/SFV, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
