BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) Bataan Schools Division Office to establish the Innovations for Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Education Entry Point (iCEP) Hub in Abucay town.

The agency funded this initiative through its CEST program to set up a training center in the province, serving as a vital resource for educators and students from various schools.

DOST Provincial Science and Technology Director Catalina De Leon-Cruz said the center will equip them with essential skills to navigate and utilize state-of-the-art technologies, including robotics and 3D printing.

“DOST Central Luzon, through the Provincial Science and Technology Office-Bataan, recently turned over the funding assistance to DepEd Bataan for the acquisition of robotic kits and 3D printing equipment to be coupled with necessary training,” she added.

By integrating these technologies into the educational framework, the initiative aims to enrich students’ learning experiences, enhance their problem-solving and digital literacy skills, and provide them with access to innovative learning opportunities.

De Leon-Cruz noted that personnel managing the hub will undergo comprehensive training to ensure the facility operates efficiently and provides adequate support to its users.

By empowering educators and students and fostering community engagement, the hub aims to pave the way for an inclusive, forward-thinking education system in Bataan.

It seeks to equip the province’s youth with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the digital era and beyond. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
