June 12– The sound of drums and the rhythm of folk dances echoed through the halls of Bulacan’s SM malls on Wednesday, as communities came together to mark the 127th Philippine Independence Day with a spirited tribute to heritage, hope, and nationhood.

At SM City Marilao, SM City Valenzuela, and SM Center Pulilan, the country’s hard-won freedom was celebrated not just in solemn ceremony but also in performances that honored the richness of Filipino culture. Shoppers and mallgoers were treated to traditional song-and-dance numbers that celebrated local artistry and historical pride.

In SM Center Pulilan and SM City Baliwag, the commemorations began with early morning flag-raising rites, joined by hundreds of employees, tenants, and members of the community. At SM Center Pulilan, dance troupes Cantus Novum Fidei and Guintong Pansilaw Dance Company captivated the crowd with powerful folk numbers rooted in local traditions. Over at SM City Baliwag, voices from BTech Singing Ambassadors and theatrical performers from Tanghalang Panday Sining breathed life into songs of unity—recalling the very spirit of independence that shaped the nation.

Draped in history, a performer at SM City Marilao unfurled the Philippine flag in a symbolic tribute during the 127th Philippine Independence Day celebration.

Meanwhile, SM City Marilao’s celebration extended beyond performance, with a culmination event on June 13—a job fair that aims to provide both local and overseas employment opportunities. The initiative underscores a deeper commitment to progress and empowerment, allowing jobseekers to take meaningful steps toward securing their future.

By weaving together cultural preservation and economic opportunity, SM malls in Bulacan have transformed this year’s Independence Day into more than a commemoration—it became a living tribute to the resilience and aspirations of the Filipino people.
