CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE—Both actors, Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis Castro, sat the campaign stage for the May elections as an entertainment platform when they took a stage in this city as a comedy duo during the kick off of the Feb. 11-May 10 party-list campaign period.
Second time to tandem as governor and vice governor in the May elections, Fernando and Castro both from National Unity Party (NUP) launched on Tuesday the Damayang Filipino (DF) party-list with more fun and laughter before more than a thousand attendees at Ebenezer Christian Academy in Barangay Sto,. Cristo in this city with no serious campaign statement for the party-list.
DF party-list First Nominee Athena Ramirez-Bautista, the governor’s sister, showed her warm welcome to their supporters only through her smile and wave and opted not to hold a microphone, not even for a second.
Except for reminding the voters not to believe in fake news in social media this election period, the two officials did not dwell on political issues. They just crack jokes and create a fun and light atmosphere using their charms as handsome actors turned politicians.
“Pwede na ba kami, pang comedy bar na ba kami?” (Are we good, are we good enough for a comedy bar), the governor asked the crowd just before they ended their 40-minute on stage.
Only the local candidates in City of San Jose del Monte led by mayoralty candidate Councilor Romeo Agapito and in City of Meycauayan led by mayoral candidate Councilor Mariposa Cabigquez stood one by one and campaigned for DF party-list.
Damayang Filipino, a first time party-list has been providing Bulakenyos and even residents outside the province medical and social care including livelihood training for 17 years through the medical missions, feeding programs, free wellness and beauty services, blood-letting and others.
Fernando first founded DF as a movement and a foundation in 2008.
Actress, singer and performer Ai-ai Delas Alas led other actors in that entertaining political evening.
