CITY OF MALOLOS – Guiguinto Bulacan’s pride festivity “Halamanan Festival” bagged for the second year the best “Indakan sa Kalye” award in this year’s annual Sining Kalinangan ng Bulacan (Singkaban) Festival 2022.
Halamanan Festival is now on its 23rd year since former Mayor now Fifth District Congressman Ambrosio Cruz Jr. conceptualized and started this in 1999.
Halamanan Festival which features the street dancing prowess of the town’s young, vibrant and beautiful folks is also a dance festivity to amplify Guiguinto’s own identity as the garden capital of the country with its colorful and beautiful flowers and the attractive and therapeutic green garden and landscape designs.
Guiguinto’s scenic ornamental plants are welcome treats to every resident and motorist who enter the Tabang Toll gate along the North Luzon Expressway.
Mayor Agatha Cruz thanked her town’s youth artists and dancers and the talents behind the beautiful costumes which all contributed to their victory.
Guiguinto brought home P120,000 cash prize, additional P20,000 for the ‘Best in Costume’ along with trophies, certificates and gift packs. The City of San Jose Del Monte’s ‘Tanglawan Festival’ took home the second place with P80,000 cash prize , trophy, certificate and gift packs while ‘San Rafael Angels’ from San Rafael town won the third place with P50,000 cash prize and additional P20,000 for being awarded the ‘Best in Street Dance’ with trophies, certificates and gift packs.
The Paseo del Congreso street from Malolos Cathedral to the Capitol swayed with each dance step and moves of the town participants to the Indakan sa Kalye.
Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando congratulated and thanked all the participants and encourage them not to stop in promoting their town’s own native culture and tradition that made up Bulacan as a whole, the culture capital of the country.
