Imperialist-led institutions like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank have done nothing to improve the conditions of Indigenous Peoples and the world. These institutions are primarily tools of imperialism to funnel excess capital into our nations, and extract profit off of our ancestral lands. As a result, we are forcibly evicted from our ancestral domains, and are faced with fascism and tyranny when we push back against corporate plunder and looting. 

Thus, it is just for us to call to shut down the IMF-WB once and for all!

July 22 marks the last day of the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference that established the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. For social movements, 80 years of the IMF-World Bank mean the exploitation and the plunder of the Global South through debt, neoliberal conditionalities, and destructive projects.

We call on social movements and civil society to join the global action to stand against the IMF-World Bank’s:

Impunity for economic crimes against the people and planet
Support for imperialist wars, dictatorships, and despotic regimes
Reinforcement of a system of plunder and poverty
