Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) proudly participated in the 2024 Regional Science and Technology Week hosted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI at the University of Antique, Sibalom, Antique. The event, from August 22 to 24, 2024, showcases a wide range of agricultural, technological, digital, and community innovations.
Representing ISUFST was a delegation led by Dr. Joana Paula B. Biñas, Director of the University’s Extension Services and Community Development units. The team comprised dedicated research and development staff and extension workers.
During the event, ISUFST highlighted its significant contributions to the region in the fields of fisheries science and technology. The university showcased its innovative research projects, technological advancements, and community development initiatives. These initiatives aim to address the pressing challenges faced by local communities and promote sustainable development.
Dr. Biñas emphasized the importance of research, innovation, and community development in driving progress and improving the lives of people. She stated, “Research and innovation are the cornerstones of progress. Investing in these areas can help develop innovative solutions to address the challenges we face and create a better future for our communities.”
The Regional Science and Technology Week provided a valuable platform for ISUFST to collaborate with other institutions, share knowledge, and explore potential partnerships. The university’s participation in the event further strengthened its commitment to contributing to the region’s scientific and technological advancement.
