CITY OF MALOLOS–The Malolos Diocese expresses sympathy to the family of five deceased rescuers as its clergy members officiate masses in their wakes.

Most Rev. Dennis C. Villarojo, DD, Bishop of Malolos extended his sympathy together with the whole clergy of Malolos to the families of the Bulacan rescuers who died in San Miguel town while in a mission to save residents at the heigh of typhoon Karding. 

Villarojo’s message was sent through personal visits conducted by Fr. Renato Brion Jr., chancellor and Fr. Arvin Ray Jimenez, vice chancellor of the Diocese in the wakes of the five victims on Wednesday and Tuesday..

The two priests celebrated the holy masses in the respective wakes of the rescuers and assured the families of their prayers for the eternal repose of the souls of their departed loved ones.

“I understand that they are in deep pain. The church is with them in prayers. I admonish them to be steadfast in faith. In this time of trails, they need God all the more,” Jimenez said referring to the families of the victims.

He said the death of the 5 rescuers tells the worls that there are still good people willing to be of help to others. “Their death must inspire many follow their example of volunteerism and courage”. 

“Their death will not be in waste if it awakens the ‘goodness’ in us. Jesus said “there is no greater love than  to offer one’s life for sake of his friends,” he added.

“These calamities we experience are brought forth by our negligence about nature. This calls us especially our government officials to do specific and concrete actions. Neglect of this matter will bring more chaos and endanger more lives,” he also said. 

The remains of Troy Justin Papa Agustin, 31 lies in state in the chapel of Barangay Sta. Ines, Plaridel where he also served as a member Sangguniang Kabataan.   

Fr. Brion held mass on Wednesday at the wake of Narciso Robles Calayag Jr., 33 in Cruz sa Wawa Memorial Chapel, Barangay Santissima Trinidad in this City of Malolos. 

Fr. Jimenez held a mas at Marby Bautista Bartolome’s wake at Father’s Cradle Memorial Chapel in Barangay Sto Rosario in this city.

The remains of Jerson Lopez Resurreccion, 33, lies in state in Catmon, Santa Maria town.

Fr. Jimenez also conducted mass at the wake of George Enriquez Agustin at his house in Iba O’ Este, Calumpit town.

Jimenez said Bishop Villarojo would officiate mass to be offered by Gov. Daniel Fernando and Vice Gov. Alex Castro and the whole of the provincial government for all the five victims on Friday.
