CITY OF MALOLOS–This Bulacan capital city on Thursday unfolds history after elected returning former Mayor Atty. Christian D. Natividad took his oath before Mayor Gilbert “Bebong” Gatchalian who he defeated in the May election.

Natividad with his mother Matilde Dionisio-Natividad and half-brother Theodore “Teddy” Natividad was sworn into office by Gatchalian as the new mayor just a few hours before he formally steps down.

The heartfelt and very touching ceremony was witnessed by nearly a thousand supporters of both the sworn in and the officiating mayors.

Natividad, former Optical Media Board (OMB) Chairman who ran last election under Partido Demokatiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) won against Gatchalian of National Unity Party (NUP) through 59,557-49,270 votes.

Natividad and Gatchalian are good friends and closest political allies. Gatchalian served as Natividad’s vice mayor for three terms, 2010-2019.
The outgoing mayor was the party mate and the mayoralty candidate endorsed by Natividad in 2019 when he ran for gubernatorial post but lost to Gov. Daniel Fernando. Gatchalian then won as city mayor.

Natividad calls on everyone to join both of them of Gatchalian in becoming part of the healing of the “wounds” and “pains” inflicted to them and to each of their camps by the brunt of the recent election. He said the wounds a man incur draw the best out of him. “Kapag tayo ay nagkakasugat, nakikita natin ang ating dugo at laman and these bring out the best from us,” he said.
