BOCAUE, Bulacan—At least P9-million worth of new and maintenance medicines for different ailments were distributed by Senator Joel Villanueva to 1,280 patients of Joni Villanueva General Hospital here on Thursday.

Residents from nine towns–Angat, Balagtas, Bocaue, Bulakan, Hagonoy, Obando, Pandi, Plaridel, and Santa Maria who are suffering from hypertension, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease received corresponding medicines from the senator for free.

The distribution was through the Department of Health’s Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) program which also provided free laboratory procedures to the patients.

The free medicine supply will cover a month’s need of the patients.

The distribution was held at the Joni Villanueva Sports Complex.

Obando Mayor Ding Valeda, Bocaue Vice Mayor Sherwin Tugna, Department of Budget and Management Central Luzon Director Rosalie Abesamis, and Bulacan Department of Health Head Dr. Emily Paulino also graced the event.
