MALOLOS CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has initially allotted P200 million for the construction of a five-story hospital at the Malolos Main Campus 2 of the Bulacan State University (BulSU).

It is set to commence soon with the Department of Public Works and Highways leading the project.

PAGCOR Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro Tengco has assured the multi-year funding for the BulSU Hospital upon the instruction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

He said the project is in line with the administration’s commitment to effectively implement Universal Health Care while investing in the next generation of Filipino health professionals.

Meanwhile, Department of Health (DOH) Bulacan Field Office Development Officer Emily Paulino disclosed that the proposed BulSU Hospital will initially be run by the university.

DOH is set to take over the operation when a statutory law is passed by Congress. The project will have an initial 100-bed capacity and be eyed as a tertiary hospital.

BulSU President Teody San Andres said the groundbreaking ceremony is the start of realizing the dream of the university since it was envisioned in the 1990s.

Once completed in 2028, it will serve as the training ground for the students of the College of Medicine, which is currently based at the San Rafael Campus. (CLJD/SFV, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
