CITY OF MALOLOS – In its efforts towards sustainable development and enhancing local agricultural productivity, the Provincial Government of Bulacan signed the memoranda of agreement with Alluma Energy Management Solution and Green Carbon Inc. for the Green Carbon Project and with the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute RTC III for the Province-Led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) held at the VIP Lounge, Provincial Capitol Building here yesterday.
Guided by their vision of “saving the earth with the power of life,” the Green Carbon Project will benefit the towns of San Miguel, San Ildefonso, Pulilan and City of Baliwag, each with 200-hectare rice area, in enhancing their carbon dioxide absorption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, providing farmers with seeds and seedlings to help them boost their financial stability through income from carbon credits.
Meanwhile, DA will co-plan, co-invest, co-implement and co-monitor priority projects in the province through PAFES, strengthening its collaboration with the PGB which will serve as an extension hub that synchronizes agricultural plans and programs as well as orchestrate activities for local farmers and fisherfolks.
In addition to the signing of these agreements, Governor Daniel R. Fernando paid tribute to the late Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong, a renowned philanthropist and chairman and CEO of SL Agritech Corporation who was a strong advocate for Hybrid Rice Commercialization in the Philippines, through Resolution No. 662-2024.
“Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong, your dedication to promoting the enhancement of Hybrid Rice Technology is truly inspiring. Thank you for being a driving force in our agricultural and economic development,” the governor said.
Further, Fernando was joined in the signing ceremony by Director Luis M. Araneta of Alluma Energy Management Solution; Mr. Takato Senoo, COO of Green Carbon Inc.; Director Joey A. Belarmino and Planning Officer Marciano C. Santos of ATI-RTC III; along with the family of the late Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong, including his wife Rita Lim and Michelle Lim-Gankee, CEO of SL Agritech Corporation.
