MALOLOS CITY (PIA) — The four re-elected and three newly elected House representatives in Bulacan have expressed their support to the legislative and development agenda of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Re-elected 1st District Representative Danilo Domingo, who is now on his second term, will continue to serve the coastal towns of Calumpit, Hagonoy, Paombong, and Bulakan; the landlocked municipality of Pulilan; and the city of Malolos.
At the top of his priority is the launching of the “Bahay-Bayanihan” Program that will help poor families in the district to refurbish their dilapidated homes to make them safer and dignified.
He also pledged to ensure multi-year funding to major flood control projects such as the 10 pumping stations and river walls, especially in Malolos, Hagonoy, and Calumpit. This is in line with the President’s priority in mitigating floods.
“Funding for the construction and completion of a tertiary hospital in Bulacan State University will be prioritized in the successive national budgets until 2028,” Domingo said.
He will also push a bill to convert Malolos into a Lone District to spur development.
In the second district which covers the city of Baliwag and the municipalities of Bustos and Plaridel, second-termer Representative Augustina Dominique Pancho pledged to support the legislative agenda, based on the upcoming new set of priority bills identified in the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council for the last three years of the Marcos administration.
Pancho assured appropriation for the rehabilitation of the dilapidated Baliwag section of Daang Maharlika.
She is also open to supporting the construction of flyovers in the congested section along this highway.
Meanwhile, second termer Bulacan 6th District Representative Salvador Pleyto wants to ensure the effective implementation of the newly enacted Republic Act 11966 or the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Code, which he principally authored, to fast-track big-ticket projects to be funded by the private sector through Build-Operate-Transfer.
“A strong oversight committee is needed to implement the PPP Code and deliver various projects at the right time. Multi-year funding for the construction of a tertiary hospital in Santa Maria has also been assured,” he shared.
In the 4th District of Bulacan, Representative Linabelle Ruth Villarica is now in her fifth term, after serving three consecutive terms from 2010 to 2019 then another term from 2022 to present.
She vows to continue prioritizing the welfare of women and children. That is why Villarica supported reducing the cost of the annulment process, if the divorce bill is not signed into law, as she believes this is the best way to protect battered wives from their abusive husbands.
Amid multiple road accidents recently, where women and children are the top fatalities, the re-elected solon wants to review the more than 60-year-old Traffic Code and amend it as necessary in the present time.
She also announced that the East Service Road from the City of Meycauayan to Marilao, beside the northbound of the North Luzon Expressway, is expected to open to traffic within the year.
Funding for the construction of a new bridge across the expressway to decongest the inner-city road of Meycauayan has been assured.
Meanwhile, outgoing Guiguinto Mayor Agatha Paula Cruz is now the newly elected representative of the 5th District.
She wants to have a major role in drafting the provisions of the national budget for education and the Early Childhood Care and Development program.
She seeks a strong oversight to monitor the implementation of the Republic Act 11223 or the Universal Health Care Act of 2019.
Cruz is also pushing for a new detailed new urban planning for her district; which covers the towns of Guiguinto, Balagtas, Pandi and Bocaue; based on the Climate Change Framework mandated by Republic Act 9729 or the Climate Change Act of 2009.
San Jose Del Monte City Mayor Arthur Robes is now back in his previous post as the representative of its Lone District.
He wants to ensure that the pillars of development will be fully realized in the areas of economy, social services, agriculture and environment, infrastructure, good governance, peace and order and tourism.
In the 3rd District, which comprises the mountainous municipalities of San Rafael, San Ildefonso, San Miguel and Doña Remedios Trinidad, it will be represented by outgoing San Rafael Mayor Cholo Violago.
He pledged to pour funds into providing health and education services, such as free dialysis and increasing the amount of scholarship grants for each student in the district. (CLJD/SFV, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
