CITY OF MALOLOS—The Sacred Heart Hospital of Malolos on the celebration of its 55th founding anniversary this year and its partner Metro Pacific Health launch the 2023 First Central Luzon “Battle of the Nightingales (BOTN), a quiz wherein nursing students in the region can show off their readiness and mastery of the profession as they gear to become part of the next medical front liners of the country.
The “Battle of the Nightingales” will be held on Aug. 25 in SM Pampanga and will serve as a prelude to a national battle in October 20 in Manila.
The quiz bee, dubbed as Project Nightingale: Overview, is an initiative of Sacred Heart Hospital of Maolos, in celebration of its 55th year founding anniversary on Sept. 1 being one of the oldest and the leading private hospitals in providing qualiity medical care to Bulakenyos. Metro Pacific Health which partly owns the hospital is now one of the largest group of hospitals in the country.
The battle of the brains among the future nightingales aims to promote public awareness and appreciation of the nursing profession by highlighting the crucial role of the nurses in healthcare.
The First Central Luzon Battle of the Nightingales witll be participated in by twelve nursing colleges and universities—Araullo University, Baliuag University, Bulacan State University, Centro Escolar University, Malolos Campus,!Central Luzon Doctor’s Hospital – Educational Institution, Inc., Columban College, Good Samaritan Colleges, Guagua National Colleges, Inc., Holy Angel University, Nueva Ecija State University of Science and Technology, System Plus – College Foundation and Tarlac State University.
Anabelle Estrella , assistant marketing head of Sacred Heart Hospital of Malolos, said,the quiz bee also helps uphold the nursing excellence image of MPH and showcasing the highest standards in nursing practice and patient care.
Estrella said the quiz bee also aims to attract top nursing graduates to work in their chain of hospitals and to retain the best nursing talent through a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy.
MPH 21 hospitals in the country today lacks 397 nurses as of May this year. “With this project, our nursing students will have MPH as their top-of-mind hospital of choice ,” she said.
Since 2017, the Battle of the Nughtingales was being launched and held by West Metro Medical Center. In 2022, 4 MPH in Mondanao—Davao Doctors Hospital, MJ Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital and West Metro Medical Center organized and launched The First Mindanao Battle of The Nightingales.
This year, Metro Pacific Health, recognizing the value and merit of the *Battle of the Nightingales* project, will launch it on a nationwide scope involving all its 21 hospitals in the country.
The BOTN National Championship will happen in Metro Manila on October 20. The Crntral Luxon winner nightingales will represent the region in the said battle.
Metro Pacific Health, a group of hospitals established in 2007 now grows to 21 chain of hospitals in the country.
Assured employment, cash, trophies and scholarship grants await the winners.
Nurses are called the Nightingales based on the name of known first nurse in world, “Florence Nightingale”.
