
CITY OF MALOLOS—Senator Risa Hontiveros joined by former Senator Bam Aquino and Akbayan Party-list first nominee Rep. Chel Diokno graced the opening of the “Iskulimpics 2025” in Malolos Sports and Convention Center in this city on Friday.
The Iskulimpics is part of the “Febpublica 2025” celebration of the city government of Malolos which aims to deepen the knowledge of the youth and enhance the student’s understanding of the rich culture and history of the country through sports, arts and science competitions with the theme, “Pagpapatuloy ng Kasaysayan, Kahusayan at Kadakilaan”.
More than 1,000 student participants from elementary and high school attended the program.
Hontiveros hailed the city government of Malolos for continuously making initiatives in inculcating into the minds and hearts of the youth the rich Philippine culture, history and other important disciplines they need to know as the future of the country.
“This is not only a simple competition but an opportunity for our youth to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Philippine history and culture through the games they will be playing in this Iskulimpics, the games that we had played, the music we listened, the dances we danced, the language we speak, which further signifies that our being Filipinos is not only in our blood but is rooted in our hearts,” the senator said.
Aquino, who is running for a senate seat in the May election was also warmly welcomed by the residents, particularly the youth.
He reminded them of the free education bill that he pushed during his time which is now a law that is being enjoyed by the Filipino youth. He said there are more needed reforms in the current education system in the country and that he will further enhance free education for all the students if he gets elected.
“Each one of you, my fellow Filipino youth, deserves the best education our country can offer. Rest assured that I will lead you in that way so that you can achieve your dream job to help your family,” he said.
Diokno, a lawyer, a professor, the founding dean of the De La Salle University in Manila and the first nominee of the Akbayan party-list also hailed the officials and the youth of Malolos for the games and quiz bees.
He assured the Malolenyo youth of being the congress counterpart of Aquino in all the bills that will benefit the education and job opportunities for the students and the new graduates.
Vice Mayor Alberto Miguel Bautista, Malolos Schools Division Superintendent Leilani Cunanan, Councilors Troi Aldaba III, John Vincent “JV” G. Vitug III, Michael “Ninong” M. Aquino, Emmanuel “Noel” R. Sacay, OIC Malolos Arts, Culture, Tourism and Sports head Gertudes N. De Castro and other officials of the city also lead the Iskulimpics launch.
