BOCAUE, Bulacan–Gov. Daniel Fernando and Bulacan mayors received on Thursday here 2,400 modular tents from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for disaster preparedness in the 24 municipalities and cities in the province.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian sent the tents in response to the request of Senate Majority Floor Leader Senator Joel Villanueva to provide readily available temporary shelters for immediate use by victims of calamities particularly fires during the March and April peak hot summer season where the rise in fire incidents is high.
“These are the support and help we asked for that we are hoping and praying not to be used because using them means there is a disaster or calamity. But we should be prepared at anytime,” the senator said.
Bocaue Mayor Eduardo Villanueva Jr., president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines said the bigger the towns and cities, the most number of tents to be given to them.
Fernando and Vice Governor Alex Castro hail the Villanueva brothers and Vice Mayor Sherwin Tugna for joining them in unrelenting love and services to the people of Bulacan.
The senator also distributed funds for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) Workers in the different towns and cities in the province.
