SM City Baliwag volunteers join hands with government agencies in a cleanup drive along the Angat River trench located between Barangay Tibag and Barangay Poblacion, at Baliwag City in Bulacan.

Organized by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the activity aims to increase awareness on the importance of proper waste disposal and the role of the community in the protection and conservation of wetland areas.

Tons of waste along the Angat River trench located at Baliwag City in Bulacan get cleaned by volunteers from SM.

Together with the volunteers from SM City Baliwag, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and NU Baliwag, the event yielded significant results as the said groups collected the most common types of garbage found on water bodies, such as cigarette butts, food wrappers, take-out containers, metal and plastic bottle caps, fishing nets, diapers, and beverage bottles. Waste collected during the recently concluded event will then be disposed of through the proper facilities and channels.
