Opportunities Unfold. Over 1,700 job opportunities awaited hopeful applicants during the Kalayaan Job Fair at SM City Marilao. SM and local government officials formally opened the event with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

MARILAO, BULACAN — Days after Independence Day, the pursuit of economic freedom lived on as hundreds of hopefuls flocked to SM City Marilao for the post-Kalayaan Job Fair, where 38 companies participated and more than 1,700 employment opportunities awaited jobseekers from all walks of life.

Crowd Surge for Careers. A surge of jobseekers floods SM City Marilao during its Kalayaan Job Fair, drawing a massive turnout from eager applicants across the province.

Held in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on June 13, the job fair served as a crucial extension of the nationwide Kalayaan Job Fair program, which originally rolled out across 28 SM malls on June 12 in celebration of the country’s 127th Independence Day.

Hired on the Spot. Applicants celebrate instant employment as several jobseekers are hired on the spot during the Kalayaan Job Fair at SM City Marilao.

With 38 companies from various industries—including retail, business process outsourcing, logistics, manufacturing, and overseas recruitment—participating in the Marilao leg, the job fair provided a wide range of career options for fresh graduates, experienced professionals, and displaced workers alike.

Face-to-Face with Opportunity. An employer conducts an on-site interview with an applicant during the Kalayaan Job Fair held at SM City Marilao.

The job fair in SM City Marilao mirrored the success of a similar event held just weeks earlier at SM Center Pulilan on May 30, where 46 companies participated. Of the 255 applicants, an impressive 69 jobseekers were hired on the spot, reflecting the growing urgency—and potential—for gainful employment in the province.

Warm Welcome for Jobseekers. SM City Marilao Mall Manager Engr. Emmanuel Gatmaitan addresses jobseekers at the mall’s Kalayaan Job Fair, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations.

Beyond matching talents to jobs, the Marilao fair also functioned as a one-stop-shop for employment documentation, with agencies like the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) assisting applicants in securing essential requirements—further streamlining the job-hunting process.

Landing the Job. Successful applicants proudly display their job offer sheets after being hired on the spot during SM City Marilao’s Kalayaan Job Fair

SM Supermalls’ continued commitment to nation-building through employment underscores its pivotal role in the country’s labor ecosystem. With every job fair, malls like SM City Marilao and SM Center Pulilan evolve into more than commercial hubs—they become gateways for economic mobility and personal growth.

As the country moves forward from its Independence Day commemoration, initiatives like these ensure that freedom comes not just in history books—but in the real-life opportunities extended to every Filipino striving for a better tomorrow.
