TACLOBAN CITY—Sixty five year old Viginia Aguilar Orollo on Thursday demonstrates to Center for Agriculture and and Development (CARD)MRI officers and media members all over the country the cooking steps and preparations for the delicious “binagol” sweet delicacy of Tacloban City.
Media members from Laguna, Bulacan, Davao, Samar and Leyte joined this year’s Media Lakbay Aral tour in Tacloban City not only to visit the offices of the CARD MRI and gained updated information on the company’s various services and products to its clients, but also to visit the tourist destinations and taste the food delicacies in the city.

The group visited the house of Aling Virgie in Barangay Lourdes, Pastrana, Leyte for her actual cooking demonstration and preparations for binagol.
Binagol, mainly made up of taro (talian), cassava (balanghoy) and other secret ingredients placed in a coconut shell and then wrapped and tied using banana leaves is boiled for eight hours to be perfectly cooked.
Each piece is priced at P50.00.
