2 drug suspects killed, 2 cops wounded in a shoot-out in San Miguel town

SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan—A wanted illegal drug suspect and his cohort were killed and two policemen were wounded while four others were arrested in a shoot-out in this town early dawn on Monday.

Bulacan Police Director Col. Relly Arnedo identified the killed suspect as Rommel Suarez, 45, a member of the Salvador Criminal Group, and listed as a High-Value Individual (HVI) of Nueva Ecija for Violation of Section 5 Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act) and his killed cohort as Elcid Pasecual, 21, also of Nueva Ecija.

Arnedo said police officers PCpl Richard Neri and Pat Aaron James Ibasco of the Bulacan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Command (PMFC) 3rd Maneuver Platoon were wounded during the exchange of fires. They are now already declared out of danger, he said.

The team of Neri and Ibasco from the said 3rd Maneuver Platoon of 2nd PMFC were serving a warrant of arrest against Suarez at about 2:30 a.m. in Barangay Maligaya when the suspects suddenly open fired on them.

Arnedo identified the arrested as Fernando Perez, and Reynier Dela Cruz, both residents of Maligaya, San Miguel, Bulacan and Shierlyn Anne Pangilinan of Gapan and Rowena Daquiz of Cabiao both of  Nueva Ecija.

Recovered from the crime scene were spent shells and firearms used by the suspects, a sachet of suspected shabu, and drug paraphernalia.

The arrested suspects were brought to the San Miguel MPS for further questioning and to investigate a possible link with the Salvador Criminal Gang. The aforementioned criminal gang is involved in robbery and illegal drug operations in Central Luzon, Arnedo added.
