CITY OF MALOLOS–More than 60 folks who still reel from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic were given 462 free range chickens as part of  the Bulacan Provincial Government and the Department of Agriculture’s continued recovery program.

Gov. Daniel Fernando led the Bulacan Provincial Veterinary Office in distributing 462 free range chicken to 66 Bulakeño animal growers from Plaridel, Marilao, Santa Maria, Angat, City of Malolos, Bulakan, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, Obando, City of Meycauayan, Guiguinto, and Norzagaray during a simple program at the Capitol Grounds recently.

More than half of the distributed chickens were personally owned by the governor.

Fernando since during the COVID-19 hard lock down had raise his own poultry for the benefit of residents as he encouraged local folks to start backyard farming as a means of livelihood particularly during and after the pandemic.

In partnership with the DA since then, the Capitol had been distributing free cows, goats and hogs to backyard raisers as part of the economic recovery of the province.

The governor encourages young Bulakeños to take courses in farming, and animal raising through his project of building a farmer’s training school.

A Bulacan Provincial Farmer’s Training School in the Capitol Grounds is now under construction where enthusiasts can enroll for free.

“Ang mga ito po ay bahagi ng ating recovery program. Layunin po nito na magkaroon ng hanapbuhay ang mga Bulakenyo. Inaayos na rin po ang patuloy na pagpapatupad ng People’s Agenda 10. Kailangan natin ng hanapbuhay bilang paghahanda para sa mga susunod pang panahon,” the re-elected governor said.

The farmer-resident beneficiaries were also affected by typhoons Fabian, Jolina, and Maring in 2021.
