Intensity IV felt in Bulacan, no damage recorded

CITY OF MALOLOS–The Wednesday 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Abra and other provinces in Region 1 and 2 and the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) was felt in at least fourteen towns and city in Bulacan but no any damage was recorded, the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) said.

The 8:40 a.m. 7.0 magnitude earthquake was also felt in different areas in Luzon.

PDRRMO head Felicizima Mungcal said Intensity IV were felt in City of Malolos, San Ildefonso, Plaridel and Calumpit while intensity III were experienced in Marilao, Pulilan, Pandi, San Rafael, Bulakan, Obando and Guiguinto.

The towns of Sta. Maria, Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT) and Norzagaray was struck with intensity II.

Mungcal said however that no any damage was reported in government structures, road or bridges and other major establishments.

President Cecilia Gascon ordered susupended the works at the Bulacan State University for the inspection of buildings and premises as a precautionary measure.

City of Malolos Mayor Christian Natividad also orders the city engineering office to check the Barasoain Church and other more than century old buildings and structures in the city.

Barasoain Church was the site of the Malolos Congress and the First Philippine Republic.

The Basilica Minore (Malolos Cathedra) convent served as the Malacañang during the time of President Emilio Aguinaldo as more than century old houses in the city were used as national government offices during that time.

Malls and other vital facilities were also inspected.
