CITY OF MALOLOS–Bulacan’s heritage, culture and tradition in this year’s 25th anniversary of  Sining Kalinangan ng Bulacan (Singkaban) Festival is highlighted  with a different form of sculpture design and materials using handles of old and used hand tractors and grass removers to advocate agricultural land conservation and help keep the farmer’s lands intact and protected.

Pulilan town native artist Andrew De Guzman with Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando opened on Saturday his 4th One-Man Art Exhibition entitled “HomeAge” as he celebrates this year his 30 Years of Art at Guillermo E. Tolentino Hall, in Hiyas ng Bulacan Cultural Center in the Capitol grounds.

De Guzman featured his masterpiece, the “We! The Weeders of Life,” an assemblage from old farm weeders (pantangal ng damo sa bukid) to drumbeat his personal advocacy of agricultural conservation and a call to action to take out the “grass in our society”.

“Grass= bad traits, exploitation, illegal conversion of agri lands, and many others,” he told NEWS CORE.

The “We! The Weeders of Life” assemblage will be transfered and permanently displayed in Pulong Kabyawan museum in his town as a permanent public sculpture.

The other works of De Guzman are also displayed in Museo San Ysidro – Pulilan Parish church, Museo de Pulilan- Pulilan Gabaldon which he also put up together with other town artists.

Fernando urged Bulakeños to visit the Hiyas Museum to appreciate and enjoy the richness of the province culture and heritage as the now 25 years Singakaban Festival returns two years after the COVID-19 pandemic.
