Atty. Jem Sy of Aksiyon Demokratiko

CITY OF MALOLOS–A losing mayoralty candidate in Marilao town filed an election protest case against proclaimed re-electionist rival as eight new Bulacan mayors were already declared winners in the recently concluded May 9 elections.


Atty. Jem Sy of Aksiyon Demokratiko was 261 votes behind against Mayor Ricardo Silvestre of PDP-Laban through 43,124-42,863 votes.
Sy filed the case before the Bulacan Regional Trial Court. 


In San Ildefonso town however, third term re-electionist Mayor Carla Galvez-Tan who only lost from 264 marginal winning votes against cousin Gazo Galvez through 33,893– 33,629 votes had already conceded and did not file any election protest case.


But Tan’s running mate, cousin re-electionist Vice Mayor Rocky Sarmiento, also a cousin of Gazo won and was already proclaimed. 
Tan defeated her cousin, former Mayor Gerald Galvez in 2013. Gerald was elected 2010-2013. Her father, former Mayor Sazo Galvez  was elected three term mayor in 2001-2010. 


Sazo run in 2010 after his older brother, late Mayor Honorato “Gener” Galvez was murdered in 2009. 


In San Rafael town, son of exiting San Rafael Mayor Cipriano “Goto” Violago ran unopposed. Cholo was a former village chair who occupied a seat in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. 


Norzagaray Mayor Fred Germar who ran and lost as sixth district congressional candidate will be succeeded by his wife Merlyn Germar.
Hagonoy Mayor Raul Manlapaz will be succeeded by his wife Baby Manlapaz. 


Obando Councilor Ding Baleda defeated Espie Santos, wife of exiting Mayor Edwin Santos. Mayor Santos also lost to Baleda’s vice mayoralty running mate Kuya Arvin Dela Cruz. Baleda and Dela Cruz won a landslide victory against the couple through 15,232-7,555 and 17,835-7,739 votes.


Lem Faustino, a businesswoman defeated former Mayor James De Jesus in Calumpit.


Atty. Agatha “Agay” Cruz succeeded her father, outgoing Guiguinto Mayor Ambrosio Cruz Jr., who was proclaimed winner for the first congressional district in the newly created fifth district of Bulacan.


Angat town Vice Mayor Jowar Bautista won as the new mayor. 


While eight new faces will join the set of 24 Bulacan mayors, six former mayors have returned to their respective posts–Atty. Christian Natividad for Ctiy of Malolos, Jocell Vistan for Plaridel, Eduardo “JJV” Villanueva Jr. for Bocaue, Bartolome Ramos for Sta. Maria, Ronaldo Flores for Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT) and Atty. Henry Villarica for City of Meycauayan. 


Ten top municipal executives-Paombong Mayor Mary Anne Marcos, San Miguel Mayor Roderick Tiognson, Pulilan Mayor Maritz Ochoa-Montejo, Bulakan Mayor Vergel Meneses, Eladio Gonzales of Balagtas, Enrico Roque of Pandi, Francis Juan of Bustos, Arthur Robes of City of San Jose del Monte, Ferdie Estrella of Baliwag and Ricardo Silvestre of Marilao.
